I love doing this because it gives me a chance to speak directly to those who are curious and those who are in our community. We’ve been open for many years now and are always looking for new ways to raise awareness of hearing loss. This show gives me the perfect platform.
In this week’s episode, I discuss your options for hearing aid repair. As we all know, hearing aids require a significant investment, so we want to ensure they are safe and always in working order.
However, accidents happen in life, and should you find yourself with non-functioning hearing aids, we have the solution.
Can Hearing Aids Be Repaired?
YES! I get emails two or three times a month asking me about repairing hearing aids, and 99% of the time, the answer is an emphatic yes.
This is because there are only about five or six manufacturers, and they use very similar parts. This makes it easy to fix minor issues at home over the phone sometimes.
If not, you can bring them to me, and I can repair almost any issue. We are a provider with a repair facility on-site, and we keep a stockpile of the common replacement parts so we can act fast when you need it most.
Which Hearing Aids Can Be Repaired?
In short, all of them! Assume your hearing aid can be repaired unless you’ve brought it to us, and we’ve exhausted every repair method possible.
Whether you have a Starkey, Phonak, ReSound, Oticon, or even private labels such as Miracle-Ear, there’s not a brand I haven’t worked with. Simply make an appointment or drop them off with Ms. Ashley at the front. We can run a diagnostic to see what the issues are.
Do You Perform Repairs In-House?
Yes, we do this because it is the most cost effective for you. We save thousands of dollars in shipping fees and third-party labor by having a repair center on the premises.
In the rare event that we cannot repair your hearing aids on-site, we are more than happy to send them to the manufacturer for a quote. Sometimes even the manufacturer can’t fix them, and if that’s the case, then there is no expense to you.
Aging Hearing Aids
If your hearing aids are more than five years old, then sending them to the manufacturer will not be an option. Many of the popular brands will not accept hearing aids this old. If this happens to you, then most of the time, we find it more beneficial to purchase new ones.
If you are set on repairing your current old ones, then we have another trick up our sleeve. We can send them to what’s called an “all-make” repair shop. These repair facilities specialize in older models and strategically purchase replacement parts from the manufacturer before they get pulled from the shelves.
While this may be a more expensive route, sometimes it’s worth it to protect your hearing aids and your hearing.
No matter what the issue is, your first step should be to bring them in so we can have a look and evaluate them in person.
Have You Heard of This Diner?
I sure didn’t before a patient emailed me to let me know about it. I’ve driven by it a thousand times, but each time it was closed – just my luck.
Will’s Grill has been around for a long time, and now that I know it’s there, I wish I had known sooner. Part of the reason that this hidden gem never appeared on my radar is due to their hours of operation. They are only open Monday-Friday from 11:00 am-2:00 pm.

The Food Is in a League of Its Own
All their food is homemade, and you can taste the difference. The first thing that caught my eye was the coleslaw. I love my slaw with the addition of peanuts, but it’s tough to find in restaurants these days. Thankfully, Will’s Grill is addressing this issue and in a generous portion as well.
For the main course, I had a large Reuben sandwich that came on freshly baked rye bread – again, sticking to tradition by providing the correct bread and attention to detail overall. My husband had the chicken cordon bleu sandwich, a creative rendition of the famous dinner entree. It was equally as impressive and satisfying.
They also offer great soups to accompany their fantastic sandwiches, and you can order them as a combo to save a few bucks.
Down-Home Charm
We even got to meet the proud owners, Bill and Judy Yelton. Since I’m not from that area, I was unfamiliar with them and their business, but after having eaten there and meeting them, I can safely say you’ll see a lot more of me in the area.
